iPilates - Who we are
Julia Jackson - One of the UK's Top Pilates Teachers
Physiotherapist for over 20 years
Qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist for over 20 years Julia injured her neck in 1998 and her rehabilitation introduced her to the benefits of Pilates. Immediately realising it was the perfect way to incorporate the skills she had acquired as a Physiotherapist into an effective exercise programme, she decided to train as a Pilates teacher herself.
Top Quality Training in London
Through her course in London with the Body Control Pilates Organisation, she trained with the best Pilates Practitioners in the UK.
The Physio and Pilates Centre
Upon qualification in 1999 Julia opened her own studio in Wilmslow, Cheshire where she works with a team of some of the most experienced, inspiring and talented Pilates teachers in the North West of England.
Julia also runs Pilates courses throughout the UK. She lectures on Pilates at International conferences for Physiotherapists, mentors trainee Pilates teachers, is a Guest Lecturer at student Physiotherapy conferences and runs workshops on Posture and Pilates for local businesses.
Top Professional Clients
Julia is frequently sought out by top professional, sportsmen and women, as well as Clubs including Lancashire Cricket Club, Sale Rugby club, players of Everton and Bolton FC, and The Women’s British Water polo team.
Julia's Philosophy
When asked recently what she enjoyed most about teaching she replied
“My passion is teaching exercise to people who have had problems finding an exercise programme to suit them, due to pain and injury. Seeing their enjoyment of movement return as they progress with Pilates is wonderful."
"I also love to teach Pilates to professional sports people and to see how when they incorporate Pilates into their training programme their injury rate falls and their performance in their chosen field is enhanced.”
Julia believes that Pilates is accessible by everyone, regardless of age, fitness, weight or sporting ability and is looking forward to the challenges of teaching on the world wide web.
Tracey Corcoran
Consultant and Pilates Instructor
Tracey's background is in Accountancy and before starting her family she was running her own consultancy business.
Pregnancy led to a serious back problem which Pilates helped enormously and in 2005 she qualified with Body Control Pilates as a teacher, coming top in her year in the written exams.
A Story of Success
In July 2007 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and spent 12 months undergoing treatment to prevent the spread of the disease. During this time she realised how important Pilates exercises were in helping to restore a full range of movement following radical surgery.
Once her treatment was complete she returned to classes at the Wilmslow studio and asked Julia to record some sample classes so that she could continue her rehabilitation at home.
