Q - What is Pilates?
A - Pilates is an exercise method, designed to stretch, strengthen and restore your body to a state where movement is both easy and natural. It creates Core Stability by focusing on key areas of the body.
Q - What is Core Stability? Why is it important?
A - Core Stability is the ability to move your limbs in a functional manner around a stable torso. It requires muscular strength and creates a toned body.
Core stability is important because it provides a supportive muscular corset which helps to protect the spine. This in turn helps to prevent or reduce lower back pain.
Q - Why should I use iPilates
A - As you know, Pilates helps you to improve your movement and flexibility so that you are able to enjoy an active and pain free lifestyle. With our web based classes you can enjoy your iPilates Workout as often as you like in a week, without the need to go out to a studio based.
Q - Who is iPilates suitable for?
A - iPilates is suitable for anyone who has done Pilates before If you have any injuries, medical conditions or if you are pregnant or have recently had a baby, please check with your GP that Pilates is suitable for you. Beginners need to check out our dedicated Beginners Area

A - Simply yes, a man invented it and so it follows that men can do it.
Q When did Pilates start?
A - Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s, initially as a form of exercise to strengthen his own body. Since the 1920s, the popularity of Pilates has steadily grown and millions worldwide now practice Pilates. The method has been developed over the years, with teachers adapting some of Pilates's original exercises in line with new research and understanding of the body.
Today, Pilates instuctors teach these original exercises alongside an evolved form of Pilates exercise.
Q - How long is an iPilates Workout?
A - We have devised several different lengths of Pilates Workout to suit different people and different situation from a 10 minute stretch and release, through a half hour core stability session to an hour full body workout. We hope that you will be able to incorporate Pilates into your everyday activities as well as perform the workouts on their own.
Q - How much does an iPilates workout cost ?
A - You can buy your workouts by adding the workouts you want to your shopping cart then checking out.

Q - Is Pilates aerobic?
A - While the primary focus of Pilates is not aerobic, some aerobic benefits can be achieved at more advanced levels. We recommend that iPilates is supplemented with regular cardiovascular exercise such as walking, cycling or swimming.
Q - Will I lose weight?
A - Pilates is not primarily about weight loss. However, iPilates exercise can support weight loss and give a more streamlined appearance.
- Pilates increases lean muscle mass which means your body will burn calories faster. This will help you to lose weight and keep it off, if that's what your body needs.
- Pilates gives you a strong, toned, flexible body
- Pilates improves posture which gives your body a more graceful, streamlined appearance.
- Pilates promotes deep and efficient respiration which is essential for calorie burning and tissue regeneration.
- Pilates promotes good self-esteem, a factor very much associated with weight loss.
- Pilates is an invigorating workout that can help sustain energy levels through the day. However it is not usually considered an aerobic exercise, unless undertaken at a very advanced level.
Ideally you should combine iPilates with a healthy diet and some additional cardiovascular exercise if you wish to reduce body fat.
Some good choices for aerobic cross training with Pilates include swimming, walking and cycling.
Q - How many iPilates sessions do I need to see improvement?
A - The benefits of our iPilates programme are that you can do the exercises in your own time and in your own space as often as you like. To get the most from this type of exercise it is best to do a workout more than once each week.
Q - Will Pilates fix my bad back?
A - iPilates is an excellent form of exercise to improve the core stability necessary for a healthy spine.
Q - Is iPilates safe?
A - Pilates is highly recommended by health professionals as one of the safest forms of exercise. However, it's always advisable to check with your GP first. If you have any injuries or medical conditions, please check with your medical practitioner before your first session.
Q - Is Pilates a safe form of exercise for pre and post-natal women?
A - Yes. If taught by a trained Pilates teacher, Pilates can be very beneficial for pre and post-natal women. However, it's important to check with your GP and Pilates teacher before starting Pilates, continuing with Pilates once pregnant, or after recently having a baby.
